UFIP ART II GONGS
ART II 24" Gong
ART II Gongs have substantial and long sustaining low-end tone. The physical style of ARTII is a
strong border with a flat center area. There is fine-tuning with small hammer-tensioning along
the inner border, and occasionally a few very light hammer strokes in the center as the final
tuning of the instrument is completed. Played soft, ARTII is very smooth with a pure fundamental
tone at the center. Gentle harmonic combinations emerge as the player moves off-center into
the middle ring. At louder volumes there is increased punch when played on center, and fiery
explosions when played off-center. ARTII is easily controllable, with low wash that can be
crescendoed into a mighty roar if desired. There are 3 independent harmonic centers
representing low, medium and high pitches centers.
ARTII sizes 20" thru 28" are made of B12 bronze. B12 is strong, focused, clearly detailed, has
medium texture, long sustains and clear low end tones.
Explosive if played loud.
ARTII sizes 32" to 50" are made of brass. Brass is warm, strong, medium to broad focused
(graduated with size), full textured,with long envelope, strong body.
