UFIP TARGO GONGS
"The Singing Gongs" -  a choir of voices lie within each cast-B20 Bell Bronze Targo Gong

UFIP TARGO Gongs are extremely vibrant organs of sound, shaped and tuned in a universal way so as to reflect a natural flow of harmonic wave energy.  Targo Gongs have great
mass and are cast to shape. This gives Targo's B20 bronze an undisturbed quality which is full, vibrant, warm sounding, detailed and sustaining. Casting to shape is descendant of bell
making, so one could certainly consider a Targo Gong to be:

- 75% gong/tam tam  - (shape and response)
- 15% chime - (cast plate-like quality)
- 5% bell - (cast to shape method of production)
- 5% cymbal - (influence in hammering)

One can play harmonic scales on the UFIP Targo's concentric lathed circles, each position putting a new tonality into motion . The center area resolves to the lowest fundamental
tone of the Gong. Moving out from the center, the gong's surface is divided proportionally. Playing in these positions brings new sets of harmonic tones. Targo gongs excel at
creating long sustains of clear harmonics when played with soft to medium velocity. Played with greater energy and large mallets, Targo will crescendo into huge washes of sound,
and are often used for that reason.

TARGO GONG DESIGNS

Targo Circular Design: lathed concentric-circle harmonic points produce myriad tonalities when played medium to soft, boundless energy when played medium to loud. At first
glance a Targo may look like a tam tam - however Targo's sound possibilities far exceed that of any traditional Tam Tam. We call it a Gong Tam.

Targo 28" Thin Hammered design offers a less dense tonal spread than Targo Circular designs. As a thinner gong, Targo Thin Hammered has a delicate sound that is tonal,
sweet and gentle. This gong also has a low wash threshold, meaning that it has another sound and can easily be brought up into complex upper  roaring harmonic textures. It excels
at very fast splashes and crescendos while retaining the depth and body of B20.

Targo Border Hammered design is an amazing new world of sound. Clear and bold, focused, detailed, ancient sounding. The addition of the border around the edge begins to
move this Targo (tam tam) in an even more  gong-like direction. The center area is  contained, which creates uniquely focused energetic characteristics that are deep, powerful
and very clear (soft or loud). In music this gong can produce gentle tonal taps to big, explosive impacts.

TARGO SOUND RANGES

Targo Inner Range, present when gong is played soft to medium in volume. The Inner UFIP TARGO Gongs have a mood of soft mystery, exotic tonalities, resolved tonalities, bell
tones, and the cosmic roar. Targo works wonderfully in an intimate or group environment. Body and ether-region, tones with a distinct bell-like quality. Deep (body) tones and
washing sounds.

Targo Outer Range: attained with medium to hard playing. The Outer UFIP TARGO Gong ranges have a mood of intense power and presence, a reminder of the limitless energy
of harmonic resonance in form. Tam/Gong splashes and full bodied high energy explosive wash tones begin to emerge, with powerful body impact and roaring crescendos.

Targo gongs are universal instruments for sound exploration, and great teachers of harmony and resonance.
