Gongs and Bells

Transformational instruments of sound that have been used in ceremony, ritual and meditation for more than 5 thousand years. Beginning first in the East
and gradually spreading West, musical and holistic gong use continues to expand worldwide.

In music, gongs are used as a voice to accent  mystery,  power and dynamic textures.

When played as a solo instrument, the Gong's resonance can be experienced in Pure Form!  Being in The Gong's Vibration is a Profound Experience!
The Gong is a physical source of energy, renewal, correction and regulation.

All Things Come Together As ONE

Physically, the body of the gong resonates in one unified
action, generating soundwave energy that is efficient, and
brings to each listener the gift of freedom from resistance.
The sound of The Gong is all things coming together as
ONE. To feel the Gong is to physical experience ONEness.

Playing The Gong

To play a gong is to become part of the flow of motion and
sound. It is a miraculous, never-ending exploration process
and vitalizing form of physical and soulful activity.

Tap softly at first. Explore the surface of the gong to discover
it's tonal range. Taps will produce clear tone that sustain for
long periods of time. This range of sound is available when
one plays
below the "wash" (dissonant roar) threshold.

As a gong is played with greater velocity, it will be driven

above
the "wash" (dissonant roar) threshold, creating
complex overtones at loud volumes which eventually become
a roar of dissonant noise.

Sound of the Gong

Vitalizing, relaxing, captivating, centering,
energizing, and healing.

As a therapeutic tool, the gong is useful in
creating sound experiences which  help to
resolve dissonance and unify the energy
systems of the body/mind/spirit.

As a musical instrument, gongs add a huge
array of ringing metal textures, tones and
roars to the percussionists' sound pallet.

Mallets

Gongs have primary mallets which
bring out an equal blend of low,
medium and high tones. Smaller
and larger mallets are useful too, as
a great gong will clearly amplify the
resonant frequency of the mallet it is
being played with. Each mallet (size,
density, material) will bring a new
set of sounds to and from the gong.
Be careful when using smaller and
harder mallets - tap -  soft to
medium so as not to damage the
gong or your ears.
